A handwritten note from Charles Dupont to Victor Stenneau - dated Monday December 15th 2008
V
Bonjour! It is as you said it would be and so you will be pleased to know that the interlopers are under lock and key at the old plantation. Angell and his men were as efficient as usual, although I grow weary of the Sherriff's demands and relentless appetites. Once you are King, I think an example may have to be made of him.
There was one casualty - the nigra priestess. I have buried her in a lead lined tomb but whether that will make a difference this time is unclear. I know already from our sources in Dylath Leen that her ship still sails so I fear we have not seen the last of her and her kin.
It will interest you to know that the Red Witch's child was among the prisoners. She was unconscious when captured and despite my best ‘encouragements' has remained so. I have bound her in silver and confined her in the oubliette but I am concerned that the Crescent Chantry will hear her calls anyway. I would welcome some guidance on this matter as soon as you are able to provide it.
In the meantime, I have called a hooraw for Wednesday night. I know it is a risk so close to ascension but I believe it is earned, will keep the troops happy and be a fitting end for these fools. I will take suitable precautions with the Black Goat to reduce any risks and our friend at the Bureau has made appropriate assurances regarding cover up. I believe a tragic boating accident in gator territory is being arranged. The man has no imagination...
I will travel to the Bahamas to meet our friends on Thursday afternoon. The matriarch has commanded it. I have tried to temper their expectations but they insist a show of force is made in New York as soon as possible next year. I will have more details on my return.
Until then, I remain your eternal servant
