Hello everyone,
I'm thinking of running a Fallout-inspired post-apocalyptic survival game for 4-6 players, running for 4-6 sessions. It's not going to be 100% Fallout, but more taking some queues from the setting, so its not a problem if you've not played the computer games. The setting can be summed up thus:
Up to the 1950s, the world of Fallout was pretty similar to our own, except that instead of focusing on the microchip, humanity continued with advances in the field of atomics, conquering the process of controlled nuclear fusion in 1959. Another difference is the radical polarisation of the world into the North-Atlantic Alliance and the Sino-Soviet Bloc in the 1960s, with the associated crack-down on civil liberties, "reds" and "commies" in the NAA. One final major difference is the 1950s influence in Fallout on all science and technology -- radiation doesn't just kill, it leads to mutation; robots and computers are both incredibly advanced (laser beams!) and strangely backwards (a computer that fits into just ONE room!) and so on.
Fearing an all-out war, the US government commenced a large-scale project to build self-contained Vaults all across the country, hoping to protect the best of their society and ensure the survival of the American Way of Life. As the bombs started to fall in 1981, these Vaults shut their doors and preserved a microcosm of that pre-war world. The players will be Vault Dwellers, the grand-children of those original refugees, and the first to set foot Outside since their Vault shut its doors 70 years ago.
I will run a high-tech/low-tech survivalist game, where tech and ammo will be rare and hard-to-come-by. How the players cope with what they find Outside will be up to them, but in the Wastelands of Fallout the environment can be just as deadly as the lead pipe-wielding Mutant hiding in the mouldering remnants of a pre-war gas station. Oh, and don't forget Fallout "chems" -- Vault society is heavily dependent on various drugs and chemicals, each with their own side-effects and risks of addiction...
I will use the d6 System to run this game -- following my Star Wars game I have become convinced that its blend of fast-flowing action and wild-die heroics is perfect for pub-based gaming

The system is really easy to pick up, and if you've not played it before you need not feel apprehensive. My GM style tends towards action/adventure, with roleplaying and some problem-solving thrown in.
So, there you have it -- if you are interested in this mix of Mad Max, Forbidden Planet, and Logan's Run, post here and we shall see what is what!
