Session 3: The desperate flight from Prato

Leading their rag tag band the players spotted a suspiciously good spot to be ambushed, halting the column they headed out, ready to make any further Skaven attacks pay dearly in blood. Heading up an embankment next to the road they tried to lure out any possible attackers, a barely heard whispering echoing in their ears. Suddenly a piercing squeal tore through the air. Cosimo had inadvertently skewered a boar which put up a hell of a fight before he could kill it. Depressingly for the GM this did the most damage to any of the players in the game so far…

Dragging the boar back to the column the players discovered shock and apathy were rampant in the column and a good deal of people were reluctant to carry on walking, they were tired, hungry and cold. With a single cry of “SKAVEN!” Ilsa soon rallied them and watched as they marched off with increased vigour… a bit too much vigour for the two older people who ended up trampled.

Grumbling the column spent another day travelling, stopping only to rest over night before continuing to Ebino. The players soon managed to find allies in the form of a merchant caravan that had occupied the abandoned tavern they had stopped in overnight. Informing them of the Skaven threat they were reinforced by around 30 hardened mercenaries and several carts of irate merchants. At this point some rather unfortunate events saw two mutants exposed while poisoning the food supply, Guido the mercenary who accompanied Alberto literally vanished before an astonished crowds eyes, while a strangely clad and emaciated man literally seemed to melt before its eyes, his limbs swapping places and his face erupting in a snarl of hatred.

At this point they discovered something disturbing, ahead of them lay an entire camp of Skaven, a rough estimate was 200 at least, a daring plan was hatched and the Skaven lured into attacking a fortified farmhouse where the mercenaries were ready to repulse them, almost a hundred lowly Skaven, the lowest of the low mobbed the house while the others marched in a more orderly formation towards it. A premature charge saw the refugees smash into the rear of the Skaven attacking the farm while the more disciplined Skaven charged into the flanks of the refugees.

The battle hung in the balance, sniping at the flanks Ilsa and Franz picked off some of the more dangerous Skaven, including what seemed to be a machine gun, while Cosimo sneaked around the battlefield until he identified the Skaven general, a vile white furred horned Skaven, throwing bolts of dark lightning around. Charging in and avoiding the generals guard he unleashed a devastating attack that saw the general die, the dark energies he controlled vaporising him and several of his guards.

The battle was won and the column limped into Ebino where the players were greeted as heroes.

Heya guys.

I've recently moved to london and went to the last club meeting (16
july). I was wondering if I could join your WFRP game. I am vaguely aware of the
rules (I have the first 1986 edotion) and I am pretty familiar with the setting.
Let me know!
